Location: York

Shift Pattern: 35 hours per week, Mon-Sun, including night shifts

Salary: £30418 (starting salary is £22879 for 15-week training period, rising to £30418 thereafter)

Job Role:

There’s a lot more to being a conductor than checking tickets. It’s about creating a great rapport with our customers. As a Conductor, you will need to know your routes & rules. With a mixture of our classroom & practical training, you can progress to becoming a fully qualified Train Conductor in around 3 months.

 

Main Responsibilities:

Provide all possible assistance to customers, being visible and assisting passengers as appropriate. Ensure high standards of customer service at all times and, under exceptional circumstances, collect customer names and details when services are seriously disrupted, e.g. delays in excess of 1 hour.
Examine and retail tickets as appropriate and deal with any travel irregularities when required.
Monitor Passengers boarding the train, operate doors with defined procedures and signal driver when it is safe to start.
To ensure that safety standards are consistently maintained and improved where possible, and to ensure compliance within the safety requirements for the customer services department and FTPE Safety procedures, Railway Group Standards, Government legislation, Network Rail Company Standards, Safety Directives and Approved Codes of Practice.
Ensure onboard safety practices are being complied with and monitored on a continuing basis, reporting any issues or concerns to members of the onboard management Management Team.
Comply with hand-over and relieving process from Conductor to Conductor so relevant on-train, customer and service information is effectively communicated.
You’ll need to be:

* Able to remain calm yet directive in a crisis

* Able to work to strict procedures
