We are currently recruiting for 2 x Trainee Rail Engineering Tutors/Assessors to deliver vocational courses at both Level 2 & Level 3, giving experienced rail professionals the opportunity to take the next step in their railway careers. The ideal candidates will have a minimum of 3 years’ permanent work experience and hold their COSS license. You will have the ability to present information clearly and concisely, as well as the passion to teach and train others in track maintenance. Courses are delivered from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

About the role

During the first 2 months of your role, you will shadow existing tutors and assessors, learning how to deliver our programmes while simultaneously completing your assessors qualification (paid for by Skills College UK). During this training time, you will be on the rails at a trainee rate of £24,000 per annum. Once your rail assessor’s qualification is completed, you will move up to the qualified rate of £44,000 per annum.

Additional information

The majority of the work will be North-West-based but you will be required to travel when required according to course demands. Mileage and expenses will be paid in this case.

Skills College UK delivers courses in the community and in prison establishments so you will be required to complete an enhanced DBS & prison vetting check.

Annual leave

23 days annual leave per year, plus 8 bank holidays.
