Business Development Manager (Rail /Transportation )

The purpose of this role is to give the needed dedicated focus onto the transportation sector, grow the presence and credibility in the sector and develop long term key relationships and business with the key prime customers.

Establish good working relationships and develop a strong network within the industry.  Many of the projects are bespoke designs, so ability to be able to support customer technically and offer solutions plus take responsibility as the customer interface in all areas on all aspects is key .

Responsibilities:-

Responsible for development and generation of customer orders focused on Rail, transportation and associated industrial customers
Utilises network and relationships to grow sales in both projects and recurring long-term contracts
Creates industry network and continually identifies new customers and increased sales pipeline
Acts as champion for business and always present themselves and business correctly
Is expert in field and provides initial technical input and concepts, builds relationships and network to enable sales target
Follows quote and all other associated processes, via strong commercial acumen maximises profit for business
Using network knowledge inputs into new product and service offerings
Develops, reports and delivers on monthly sales bookings and pipeline strength against budget

Accountable metrics –

Booked Sales against budget /target (80% new business goal)
Margin against budget /target
Customer retention
Pipeline strength

What you’ll bring –

Knowledge of Rail industry, ideally with extensive knowledge of supply chains involved and strong network within industry
Demonstrable experience in sales generation and customer development
Proven track record in sales achievement and pipeline development
Technical understanding of fibre optic products and or signalling products ( or similar ) with ability to guide and support customers on technical project aspects
Commercial acumen with ability to maximise margin and or understand commercial sensitivities within project or deal
Customer centric with ability to gain trust with customer and grow brand loyalty / attain strong retention rates and develop long term relationships
Mix of hunting and harvesting sales skills

Salary:           £55,000 – £65,000 – OTE (£95,000 – £100,000) Uncapped commission scheme
