Health and Safety Advisor

We are looking for a Health & Safety Advisor who is happy to regularly travel to sites and who understands the challenges and the regulations to be upheld.
Ideally, you will have prior experience in high-risk sectors such as Rail, infrastructure, construction, forestry.
Duties
• Assist with producing Construction Phase Plans, Work Package Plans, Task Briefing sheets and Risk Assessments.
• Inspect, audit and verify Construction Phase Plans, Work Package Plans, Task Briefing sheets and Risk Assessments.
• Carry out safety inspections, assess hazardous and unsafe situations and address as necessary.
• Develop and implement measures to assure personnel safety, including assisting with training when requested.
• Review accident and incident actions for safety implications and monitor to closure.
• Work closely with the delivery teams as a collaborative unit to achieve the highest levels of compliance.
• Assist with the review and update of health and safety policies, systems of work, risk assessments, procedures and client specific standards and documents.
• Participate in planning & possession meetings to identify any health and safety concerns inherent in the operations daily workplan.
• Promote strong H&S culture in the workplace, seeking to implement best practice wherever reasonably practicable.
• Carry out site advisory inspections and advise on corrective actions.
• Audit employees to ensure they have been appropriately trained according to the Health and Safety training plan, reporting findings to the Training Coordinator and Senior Health & Safety Advisor. Undertake company inductions and briefings where required.
• On a monthly basis audit equipment records including LOLER, PAT, PUWER.
• Routinely report KPI’s as required and monitor figures.
• Assist with the managing of the COSHH database using the SYPOL System.
• Manage and maintain the Close Call spreadsheet and assist with submitting them to the clients where required.
Person Specification:
• Recent and substantial Health and Safety experience within the Rail / Construction industry.
• NEBOSH General Certificate & NEBOSH Construction (preferred).
• CSCS/PTS.
• Good working knowledge of COSHH, PUWER and LOLER.
• Experience of producing risk assessments.
• Experience in delivering audits.
• Analytical and enquiring approach to work.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Full driving license.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday
8am – 5pm
