Your future role:

Take on a new challenge and help shape the future of mechanical product engineering at Alstom. You’ll report to the Engineering Manager and play a vital role in supporting the overhaul and performance of critical components such as Wheelsets, Bogies, Traction Motors, HVAC units, and other key subcomponents. You’ll work closely with both internal teams and external customers to drive quality, investigate issues, and support the successful delivery of new and existing programmes.

 

We’ll look to you to:

Provide mechanical engineering support for overhaul activities across a wide range of rail components
Liaise with production, project teams, and external customers to ensure engineering activities align with site objectives
Lead or assist in technical investigations into safety-related or high-value product failures, delivering timely, high-quality outcomes
Recommend changes to specifications and processes to improve product reliability and operational performance
Represent Engineering in both internal and external meetings to resolve product overhaul challenges
Support the introduction of new product overhauls from bid phase through to full programme implementation
Assist with the validation of components for procurement in line with project and fleet engineering timelines
Develop or manage repair procedures in collaboration with suppliers, ensuring appropriate customer approvals are obtained.

 

All about you:

Degree or Higher Certificate in a relevant engineering or technical discipline (preferred)
Experience in a mechanical product engineering role within a rail or heavy industry environment (preferred)
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, particularly traction and rolling stock components
Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to technical investigations
Confident communicator, comfortable working across teams and with customers
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Experience in engineering change processes, including risk assessment and approvals.
