We’re transforming the East Coast Mainline by implementing digital train control technology to enhance service reliability and efficiency. The flagship East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP) is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform rail service for both passengers and freight users. The LNER ECDP Team is collaborating with Network Rail and the Government to upgrade train control systems, creating a more dynamic, flexible, and dependable railway.

The ECDP Team operates within a unique industry partnership model, integrating technical and business change delivery across multiple organisations.

Key Competencies:

Proven experience delivering business change in Health & Safety.
Skilled in risk assessment and application of various methodologies.
Strong influencing and communication skills with excellent stakeholder management.
Extensive experience in Health & Safety for rail project delivery, including technical and personnel changes.
Familiarity with CSMRA, RM3, ORR, and safety data interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:

Update/review SMS documents and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Realise and manage safety benefits related to ETCS and Traffic Management.
Ensure smooth transition of changes into business operations and maintain safety standards.
Coordinate safety change activities, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
Support the development of safety training materials and system requirements.
Provide safety input for ECDP Working Groups and collaborate with external partners.
Ensure ongoing safety readiness and compliance with industry standards.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

CMIOSH (desirable) or working towards it, with significant senior experience in rail Health & Safety.
Strong understanding of Railway Safety, risk management, and safety data presentation.
Experience in delivering business and cultural changes within Safety.
Familiarity with the Network Code, Network Change principles, and safety reporting.
