Role Overview:
To manage the day-to-day Tramway operations to deliver a safe and reliable service for Blackpool Transport. To inspire our colleagues to learn and develop to the best of their ability and manage them to deliver the best possible service for our customers.
To be a key member of the Blackpool Transport Leadership Team and provide strategic input into business planning and to deliver all objectives set for the Tramway.
Manage the LRT and Heritage operations to ensure the safety and compliance with all company and legislative systems and procedures on the Tramway and related functions.
Oversee the Engineering Team with responsibility for maintenance of the tram fleet and tram depot buildings and equipment, overhead lines including warranty related issues.
Manage all issues affecting the tramway liaising with the infrastructure provider, suppliers and related contractors as required.
What we offer:
An annual salary of £65,000-£75,000 depending on experience
28 days’ holiday per year rising annually to 33 days after 5 years, inclusive of 8 public holidays.

Responsibilities:
Operational Responsibilities
Making sure the Tram operation meets its performance and safety targets, in line with all relevant legislation, monitoring and reporting to the Executive Team.
Working with the company Operations teams to ensure that Tramway operations are fully resourced at all times.
Working with the company Training team to support the delivery of regular training programmes for current and new colleagues.
Managing the Tramway Engineering and Maintenance teams in a proactive and efficient manner taking advantage of all modern and appropriate business practices,
systems and cultures.
Work with Engineering teams to ensure vehicle availability meets the business needs.
Managing operations and safety for the Heritage operation.
Liaising and negotiating with different stakeholders including planning and highways authorities, residents, councillors/politicians, developers and transport providers on issues that may affect the Tramway operation.
Liaising with professional light rail bodies.
Safety Responsibilities:
Manage the relationship with the ORR, RAIB, LRSSB and any other safety bodies to ensure Blackpool Tramway operations are fully compliant with all safety legislation at all times.
Ensure that all reports of any safety events relating to the Tramway are fully investigated with findings and any recommendations reported to the Directors and Head of Safety.
Manage and control a programme of both annual risk assessments and COSHH assessments for all Tramway operations and Starr Gate Depot. Ensuring appropriate documentation is completed, recorded and required action taken including circulation of relevant documentation to departments.
Evaluate the need for additional risk assessments based on changed circumstances of personnel, working practices or equipment.
Manage and control the work of all contractors on site. Specify projects for completion, obtain quotes, agree timescales and ensure compliance with all Company policies and standards when contractors are on site.
Manage an annual programme of buildings maintenance for Starr Gate Depot and Infrastructure. Issue work requests and timescales for completion to relevant departments.
Relationships:
Be a key member of the Blackpool Transport Senior Management Team and interface across all functions of the business through collaborative working.
Maintain and build excellent collaborative and professional relationships with all stakeholders, suppliers and trades within the Light Rail industry.

Qualifications:
Education/Qualifications/Knowledge
Leadership or Management qualification- Essential
Proven experience in rail Health and Safety- Essential
Experience dealing with regulatory bodies- Essential
Working knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices- Essential
Operations Experience- Essential
Current Driving Licence- Desirable
Skills & Aptitude:
