Full job description

Location: Hull (1 Humber Quays, Wellington Street West, HU1 2BN) S

Starting Salary: £27,500 + benefits

Start Date: Flexible

Are you ready to launch your career with one of the UK’s most forward-thinking engineering companies? we’re looking for a driven and curious Graduate Trainee Business Developer to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in business development within the rail and civil engineering sectors — industries that shape how people connect, travel, and live.

What You’ll Do

As a Graduate Trainee, you’ll work alongside experienced business leaders and technical experts to learn how we identify, win, and deliver major engineering projects. You’ll get involved in:

  • Researching new markets, clients, and opportunities across the UK rail sector
  • Supporting the creation of compelling bids, tenders, and proposals
  • Analysing competitors and industry trends to help shape business strategy
  • Building relationships with clients, consultants, and partners
  • Coordinating meetings, presentations, and follow-ups with key stakeholders
  • Helping maintain accurate client and project information in our internal systems

No two days will be the same — you’ll be developing commercial awareness, communication skills, and technical understanding all at once.

What We’re Looking For

We’re not expecting years of experience — we’re looking for potential. If you have:

  • A good honours degree (any discipline — business, engineering, or related fields are ideal)
  • A genuine interest in business development, infrastructure, or engineering
  • Great communication and people skills
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail
  • Confidence working with data and IT systems

…then we want to hear from you.

Why Join Us?

  • Structured graduate development plan with mentorship from industry professionals
  • Opportunities to work on real projects from day one
  • Career progression across business development, commercial, or project roles
  • A collaborative, forward-thinking environment where your ideas matter
  • Competitive starting salary (£27,500) and benefits package

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £27,500.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • On-site parking

Work Location: In person
