About the job

The holder of this post is responsible for cleaning and presentation of trains and station areas, ensuring all trains and station areas are clean and presented to the highest standard. Ensure cleaning duties are carried out in accordance with train presentation standards and any local instructions. You will use only approved equipment, chemicals and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment in accordance with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH).

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Clean and present trains for service in accordance with train presentation standards within depot, on station and in transit.
  • Clean and present station areas to the required standard as set out by local management including toilets.
  • Dress appropriately and professionally for the role at all times.
  • Respond to customer queries with confidence and courtesy.
  • Removal of internal and external graffiti.
  • Undertake cleaning of biological hazards.
  • Complete paperwork as required, detailing, and signing for all work carried out.
  • Dispose of collected wet waste in accordance with local instructions.
  • Advise Duty Manager of any problems or defects identified.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and alone.
  • Any other reasonable management request

Working pattern

Working an average of 37 hours per week over 5 days

Rotation of four weeks 7hr 24 shifts.

Week one 0430 – 1154 depot, week two 0600 – 1324 depot, week three 0600 – 1324 stations, week four – Leave cover or 1100 – 1824.

Sunday outside of the working week. One out four weeks rostered 7 hrs 0530 – 1230
