Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Supplier Development Engineer for a 12-month contract at our Solihull facility. This role is crucial for ensuring the supply base meets customer demands while maintaining high-quality standards. You’ll focus on supplier development, risk assessment, process improvement, and performance management.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct Risk Assessments, Rate Readiness Assessments, and Capacity Assessments of the supply base.
Drive adherence to quality procedures and specifications across suppliers.
Approve suppliers according to the sourcing process.
Contribute to problem-solving and process improvement activities using standard tools.
Collaborate in defining material specifications with Engineering, Process Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers.
Establish and manage supplier development programs, ensuring corrective actions are followed up.
Perform supplier audits as part of sourcing and development programs.
Negotiate and finalize supplier quality manuals.
Support escalation paths for unresolved quality issues and poor supplier performance.
Define actions for early production containment to prevent disruptions.
Maintain and track supplier records for ongoing evaluation.
Execute regular supplier performance ratings and improvement initiatives.
Establish continuous improvement programs with suppliers.
Track, update, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supplier performance.

 

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
Experience: Proven experience in aerospace or manufacturing, including risk assessments, process capability, and statistical process control.

 

Skills:

Ability to interpret Engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong background in supplier audits and supplier quality management.
