Brief Description:
This role sits within supply chain operations (SCO), an area of the business that supplies and delivers logistics, materials, components, and rail and road fleets that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
SCO keeps the materials, machinery, and components required by its customers moving – making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule. Watch our video Working in Supply Chain Operations.
As a Site Operative you will undertake work as allocated safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Carry out work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements or other instructions. Report any Close Calls as identified.
2. Undertake work and associated duties for which you are trained and competent, advising the Site Manager should you feel more training is required.
3. Undertake work activities as directed, in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with all relevant standards.
4. Check that vehicles, plant, tools, equipment and materials under your control are fit for use and are used/stored and disposed of correctly, reporting any issues to the Site Manager.
5. Contribute to your own development.
6. Adhere to company policies and procedures.
7. Represent the team at all appropriate business meetings, workshops and briefings as required by the Site Manager.
Skills and Experience:
Essential;
•Able to work as part of a team
•Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
•Hold and retain competencies relevant to this post required by the business need including training as required such as 360 excavator/material re-handler and wheeled loading shovel
•Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by the business need.
Vacancy type: This role is permanent.
Location: This position is based in Bescot Depot.
Hours: 48 hours per week with hybrid working and travel as required.
Salary range: £31,381 to £33,664 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
