About the job:

As an RO2 Shunter you will be responsible for arranging and controlling the shunting of units at Depots, Carriage Sidings & Stations.

 

Your main responsibilities will be:

Coupling and uncoupling of units.
Arrange and control the shunting of units into correct formation.
Conduct safety checks on units.
Operation of hand points to set routes for shunt movements.
Authorise movements of Drivers.
Advise relevant Manager / Supervisor of any problems or defects.
Supervise and mentor trainee shunters, if applicable.
Work effectively as part of a team.
Remain visible in times of disruption and work closely with colleagues to keep passengers informed.

 

Safety Responsibilities:

Comply with safety systems and responsibilities at all times.
Develop a pro-active approach to safety and quality issues.
Ensure your personal safety and that of others at all times.
Carry out emergency procedures when required.
Report any irregularities, faults or unusual occurrences in the prescribed manner, maintaining a written record.
Wear uniform and safety clothing, including name badge.
Participate in all staff briefings to ensure you are informed of all relevant information.
Examine all notices, publications and instructions.

 

Working pattern:

Working an average of 37 hours over 5 days

Shift patterns: 0600 – 1400 / 1400 – 2200 / 2200 – 0600
