Brief Description

Making sure inspection, maintenance and renewal of assets goes smoothly, you’ll supervise work, carry out inspections and champion safety in this varied and vital role.


About the role (External)

Assisting an Infrastructure Maintenance Section Manager with the inspection, maintenance and renewal of assets, you’ll supervise the delivery of associated work and help with the management of staff. It’s an excellent opportunity to use all of your specialist knowledge while developing valuable leadership skills. It’s also an extremely varied role.
We’ll look to you to undertake inspections, and prepare work and resource specifications and method statements. Providing accurate and detailed information, you’ll keep a range of systems, databases and records fully up-to-date. Checking the quality of work and making sure assets are compliant to exacting standards, you’ll enjoy the scope to identify and propose asset renewal work. You’ll also allocate resources to works, and oversee both the quality of people’s work and their welfare at work. As well as enhancing your own skills, you’ll help others with their development. Crucially, you will champion the highest standards of safety in every aspect of your team’s work.

Essential Criteria
  • Experience of directing and supervising worksites and the safe and efficient delivery of work
  • Knowledge of processes for planning and organizing work and resources
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific maintenance, inspection, faulting and renewal techniques
  • Able to coach, influence and develop others
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Comfortable working shifts including days, nights and weekends

Desirable Criteria
  • Hold or be working towards an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained an appropriate level of knowledge through equivalent relevant experience
  • Awareness of cost and waste control techniques
  • Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need
  • S&T Experience
This role involves days, nights and weekend working, and is a safety critical role so subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of the relevant medical assessment.

All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on our Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.
