About The Role

Our Safety department requires a skilled and motivated Safety and Audit Manager to join our friendly team in Peterborough.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for development and delivery of the annual Safety Management System whilst also supporting and providing advice on a range of health, safety and wellbeing activities to help us maintain our high standards and drive continuous improvements, whilst enhancing our culture within the company.

 

You will provide advice and guidance on health, safety, environmental and quality assurance matters, increasing awareness throughout the business whilst working with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will ensure any significant health, safety, environmental and quality issues are escalated to the management team and action plans are managed swiftly and cascaded through the company.

You will also audit internally to ensure we are compliant with ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001, environmental requirements and any other applicable legislation. This will include monitoring close out of non-conformances, reporting to the Executive Team on action plans and offering support on close out for their teams on a monthly basis.

 

The salary on offer is £47,000-£52,000, depending on experience.

Regular travel across the UK is required for this role. A clean driving licence must be held.

Main Responsibilities
  • Initiate and develop audits as required leading on the Internal Programme as a member of the Safety Team
  • Review all 3 ISOs (45001, 9001 and 14001) and ensure our Integrated Management System meets the requirements
    Ensuring our Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management systems are adhered to and compliant with legislation and suitable for the needs of the business and our customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain excellent business partnerships with your designated client groups and encourage best practice, offering support and guidance to drive forward management of health and safety, quality and environmental awareness within the business.
  • Ensure our managers understand and fulfill their health and safety, environmental and quality obligations.
  • Design and implement continuous improvement programs to relevant personnel.
  • Lead on external audits of our health and safety, environmental and quality management systems, providing written reports to the Head of Safety and track identified non-compliances to conclusion and analyse findings and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Maintain systems and processes to ensure all reporting requirements are robustly managed and reported in co-operation with company sustainability and
  • Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) responsibilities
  • Ensure all customer and public complaints relating to health and safety, environment and quality issues are investigated, and reports are closed out in a timely fashion
  • Provide periodic reports for owning Board and internal Executive Safety Group and other meetings where information relative to the role is required.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate, NCRQ (or equivalent).
  • Internal Auditing Qualification – Lead Auditor 45001 or 14001. (Will consider alternatives)
  • 3 years’ experience in an audit role (preferably within a UK Railway industry).
