Key Purpose:

Our client, a leading railway engineering company, seeks a Fleet Reliability Engineer to provide technical expertise across their rolling stock projects, including multiple units (EMU/DMU, bi-mode and tri-mode), locomotives, and locomotive-hauled coaching stock (LHCS).

The role focuses on developing and managing fleet-specific reliability growth plans, analysing performance data, and implementing measures to achieve technical and contractual performance targets. The successful candidate will serve as the primary technical, performance, and reliability interface at customer operational sites, particularly where performance targets are contractually mandated.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Lead technical reliability analysis and reporting
Analyse incident data and generate reliability/quality metrics reports
Develop and implement fleet/system reliability growth plans
Support FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System) processes
Participate in technical/reliability review meetings
Create and manage Product Improvement Plans aligned with quality certifications
Prioritize reliability issues based on criticality
Contribute to through-life-care modelling to enhance product performance.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience: 

Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
Proven track record in fleet/technical engineering reliability within the rail industry
Experience with modern passenger fleet systems
Knowledge of FRACAS, Cost Benefit Analysis, and FTA methodologies
Understanding of safety and reliability compliance requirements
Experience with reliability growth models.

Advanced Excel skills
Business acumen and commercial awareness
Customer and supplier relationship management experience
Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization
Project management capabilities.

Willingness to travel to various UK sites
Valid driving license
Flexible approach to work

 

Desirable: 

Business/Management/Finance qualification
Project management certification (PRINCE2 or APM)
