Full job description
Regional Manager – Train Cleaning
Location: Leeds (Covering East Region)
Hours: 37
Salary: £40’369
Behind every journey is a team who make that possible, from the late-night clean to the early-morning polish. As a Train Presentation Regional Manager, you’ll lead those teams, making sure every train leaves the depot looking its best and running safely.
You’ll take the lead across your region, managing people, planning resources, and setting the standard for presentation. Your work will make a visible difference to the customer experience – and to the pride your teams feel in what they do.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll manage and support several Train Presentation teams across your region, helping them deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient work every day. You’ll make sure cleaning standards are consistent, equipment is used properly, and every location follows the right processes.
Your role will also involve:
- Coordinating resources and rosters to meet the needs of the train plan.
- Working closely with depot teams, operational colleagues, and union representatives to keep things running smoothly.
- Managing budgets, stock levels, and equipment to ensure everything is in place to get the job done.
- Carrying out audits, inspections and performance reviews to maintain safety and quality standards.
- Taking the lead on accident and incident investigations, ensuring procedures are followed and improvements are made.
- Supporting and developing your people – from recruitment to training and performance conversations – helping everyone work safely and confidently.
- Building relationships with third-party customers and keeping communication open and clear.
It’s a varied role where no two days are the same – one moment you’ll be analysing data and planning resources, the next you’ll be on-site helping your team meet a tight turnaround.
About you
You’ll have solid experience leading people in a customer-focused environment, ideally within Rail, transport, facilities or another operational setting. You’re a natural organizer who can balance quality, cost, and safety without losing sight of your team.
You’ll bring:
- Experience managing teams, setting standards, and achieving results through others.
- Good working knowledge of cleaning practices, materials, and equipment – plus a sound understanding of health and safety, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
- The ability to work independently, make decisions under pressure, and adapt quickly when plans change.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – you know how to build trust and motivate people.
- Confidence using technology for reporting, planning, and communication.
- A valid driving licence.
If you’ve completed IOSH Managing Safely or hold a relevant management qualification, great – but if not, we’ll support you to get there.
