The Role – Light Maintenance Team Leader

Reporting to the Shift Manager, as a Light Maintenance Team Leader you’ll be responsible for leading a team of Exam Fitters, ensuring safety, compliance and completion of level 1 to 4 examinations are successfully completed within set deadlines.

Working at a Crewe depot and leading a team of 7, your duties will include, although not limited to:

Liaising with customers to ensure efficient work programmes are implemented and the resolution of technical problems
Ensuring the compliance of the teams working to VMI’s, VOI’s and ATC work instructions
Implementing and maintaining safety systems, production efficiency and quality output
Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all relevant personnel
Ensuring work locations are fit for purpose and compliant with relevant standards
Assisting the training department in the development of competence assessments for team members
Mentoring and coaching of team members to ensure that they fulfil their job requirements and complete relevant training
Ensuring the safe movement of vehicles and operating (driving) rail vehicles as required

Working an average of 37 hours per week on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern 7am to 6pm, you will benefit from:

Requirements – Light Maintenance Team Leader

Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical rail vehicle maintenance, and the management of railway depot operations
Driver operator / shunter assessment in a relevant class of vehicle
NVQ Level 3 in Engineering – Rail Traction and Rolling Stock preferred
People management and supervisory skills
Knowledge of production efficiency techniques
Ability to interpret engineering drawings
