Are you an experienced rail systems and safety professional ready to make a real impact?
We are looking for a Rail Systems and Safety Manager to join our Design & Construction Management team and support it’s commitment to engineering excellence, safety, and compliance across our projects.
In this role, you will provide specialist technical guidance to project teams, ensuring compliance with safety and system engineering regulations.
You’ll be a technical lead and will work closely with external contractors and internal teams to integrate safety throughout the project lifecycle.

What you’ll be doing:
Advising project teams to ensure compliance with statutory obligations under the ROGS, CSM-RA, and other relevant regulations.
Providing compliance evidence and working collaboratively with the Assessing Body (AsBo) to achieve required authorisations under ROGS and the Railways (Interoperability) Regulations 2011.
Leading the development and maintenance of CDM compliance strategies and conducting regular audits to ensure all projects meet safety and legal requirements.
Working closely with external contractors, designers, and internal teams to ensure compliance and promote a safe working environment.
Guiding Project Managers when managing the production of safe designs for construction, operation, and maintenance.
Supporting the project teams to undertake site inspections and undertake audits to ensure ongoing compliance with safety standards.
Attending, inputting and where applicable facilitating design development reviews, IDCs, IDRs, HAZIDs to ensure robust risk management process is being adhered to and suitable mitigations identified.
About You:
Demonstrable experience in rail projects with a background in design, safety, or site management.
Experience in Network Rail Design Assurance is essential.
Degree-level qualification in a relevant field (e.g., BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc or similar) and chartered status (or near to achieving) with a recognised institution such as IOSH.
Appreciation of engineering principles in own field (ideally within civil engineering) and experience working in a multidisciplinary environment.
Strong knowledge of CDM, CSM RA, and safety management systems.
NEBOSH Construction Certificate / IOSH SHE for Construction Site Managers or equivalent.
