Our client, a leading consultancy in the rail sector, is currently seeking skilled Rail Systems / Overhead Catenary Engineers to join their team on a contract basis, contributing to major HS2 projects in the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with industry-leading professionals and make a significant impact on high-profile rail infrastructure developments, with a focus on electrification and overhead catenary systems (OCS).

 

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

Be a key contributor to a dynamic and innovative rail design team delivering world-class solutions
Develop overhead catenary systems layout drawings, profiles, hanger tabulations, erection diagrams, and technical specifications
Conduct quality control reviews and design checks to ensure accuracy and compliance
Take the lead on major tasks, guiding project progress and ensuring deliverables are met
Ensure all designs and activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and HS2 project requirements for OCS.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, with relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or OpenRail
Full UK Driving Licence to facilitate site visits and client meetings.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership
Experience in railway systems, specifically in Overhead Catenary Systems and Traction Power
Demonstrable experience with UK-based rail clients or agencies such as Network Rail, HS2, or Transport for London (TfL)
Proven ability to manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
