Job Requirements

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Quality Support Specialist to provide hands-on production support at a Rail Pack Production and Maintenance Facility in East Grinstead.

The site delivers three key repair and maintenance routes, Fault Repair, Half-Life Maintenance, and End-of-Life Overhaul, ensuring reliability and performance for critical rail assets.

The role will focus on supporting application of the 5-Stage Quality Process, strengthening compliance with the Four Eyes Principle, and helping ensure high-quality, right-first-time output across all workstreams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-On Quality Support:
  • Provide day-to-day quality oversight and support, ensuring repair activities meet customer and industry quality standards.
  • Be a visible presence on the shop floor, supporting teams through each stage of the process to ensure clarity, control, and compliance.
  • 5-Stage Quality Process Execution:
  • Actively support the execution of each stage of the quality process, ensuring accurate documentation, traceability, and adherence to standards.
  • Reinforce the Four Eyes principle, ensuring independent checks are carried out consistently and recorded appropriately.
  • Support teams in addressing non-conformances and implementing immediate corrective actions.
  • Problem Solving & Escalation:
  • Support containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities on emerging quality issues.
  • Escalate systemic issues or recurring process weaknesses to the Quality and Production leadership teams for resolution.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, or strengthen quality processes.
  • Provide feedback and practical suggestions to improve quality assurance and control across repair activities.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality leadership to maintain alignment on standards and expectations.

Contribute to team discussions, audits, and reviews to sustain a strong quality culture.


Work Experience

Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on quality assurance or inspection experience in rail, aerospace, defense, or other complex engineering/manufacturing environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of structured quality processes and inspection stages.
  • Experience supporting repair, maintenance or overhaul operations is desirable.
  • Confident working on the shop floor, engaging directly with production and inspection teams.
  • Knowledge of the Four Eyes principle, inspection sign-off requirements, and traceability standards.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative approach.
