Pway Engineer

We are currently looking for 2 Pway Surveyors to join a client covering the Wessex and Kent/Sussex rail routes on a long term freelance basis. The purpose of the roles are to carry out surveys from start to finish supporting the Operations Manager – Survey & Geotechnical whilst leading Surveyors in the execution of all topographical and railway surveys.

This role will be working nights – Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs and Saturday shifts.

Rail experience and knowledge is preferred, but confidence and alternative experience in land survey techniques and the willingness to learn and master rail-specific measurement technology & working methods is essential. Knowledge in the use of Trimble total stations would be preferred, but we can convert you if need be!

Should be comfortable working under short-duration time pressures due to limited access to the rail infrastructure and in leading a small team of colleagues to achieve the best results for each shift. Work will predominantly be nights, including weekends, with regular overtime available, and with a high degree of autonomy, using own initiative and motivation to progress the survey, although full support & guidance will always be available.

Working locations are throughout the southern half of England; travelling to site and working away from home will form part of the role.
