The Role:

As an Electronics Engineer here, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing a wide range of electronic systems and circuit boards—primarily from the rail sector—down to component level. You’ll work in a fast-paced workshop environment and contribute to the delivery of high-quality repairs that support the continued operation of critical rail infrastructure.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose and repair faults on electronic PCBs and assemblies down to component level
Carry out hands-on fault finding using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic probes, etc.
Evaluate and produce written Condition Assessments of products as they arrive for Test, Repair and Overhaul
Replace and rework surface mount and through-hole components to IPC-A-610
Ensure quality and traceability of repairs according to company and customer standards
Produce clear and concise engineering reports detailing diagnostics, repairs, and test results
Work collaboratively with the wider engineering and operations teams
Follow health and safety procedures in a workshop environment.

 

Desirable Experience & Skills:

Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (or equivalent)
Proven experience in component-level fault finding and repair of electronic hardware
Strong soldering and rework skills (including SMD)
Ability to interpret circuit diagrams and technical documentation
Familiarity with industrial or rail electronics (advantageous, but not essential)
Good written communication skills for producing technical reports
Self-motivated and able to manage workloads independently
Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
