Your future role:

his post shall be pivotal in achieving this. To provide technical expertise and support to the project undertaking in service fault finding and rectification and assist the project to meet its obligations in providing the new Class 730 fleet to the customer.

To provide in service and depot support to the fleet, during passenger service operations ensuring the units remain safe and fully functional whilst carrying out customer requirements and at all times minimising Service Affecting Failures.

 

We’ll look to you for:

Support all aspects of APSYS and EHS assurance including the use of Iforms.
Provide in service support to the fleet
Provide depot support to the fleet
Communicate and provide written feedback with ISST’s, PSE, Team Leaders and production management.
Diagnose and rectify as required technical faults on the service fleet to ensure units remain in service
Preventative fault analysis and rectification
Immediate reaction to any reported issues for the in service fleet
Provide technical support to the depot teams in the provision of fault finding expertise and assistance with train repair activities.
Provide diagnostic and repairs on electronics and electrical systems
Have extensive knowledge of 3 phase, single phase and DC power systems and control systems.
Detailed recording of faults, fault reporting, data gathering and verbal communication
Carry out Testing & Re-Commissioning activities on vehicles and trains in accordance with pre-written test and commissioning procedures.
Assistance in component change outs, and failure reporting for central systems support and reliability growth teams.
Assist with skills development
Investigate technical problems as instructed by the project support engineering team.
Partake in gathering required data downloads on critical performance systems.
Undertake test runs to assist in fault finding and resolution of faults, in particular the closeout of repeat failures.
Functionally test train borne systems with minimal supervision using a variety of techniques and methods, including the use of computer based diagnostics systems.
Review and rectify test specifications and documentation for functional tests, feeding back any problems with VMI’s, Fleet Checks, Modifications or technical documents using the correct process.
Assist with the validation of documentation issued in support of maintenance and repair activities, special checks, modifications and trials.
Assist in the validation of Maintenance Schedule amendments and other technical instructions.
Assists with the validation of locally produced technical instructions.
Provide technical support in connection with special checks and trials.
Liaise with the systems support engineers and specialist engineers as necessary, gathering technical information needed to enable technical problems with trains, procedures, materials or component problems to be resolved.
Carry out all duties in accordance with the Train Care Centre quality and safety procedures.
Assist in the testing and repair of equipment identified as faulty and removed from trains.
Assist the Warranty Engineer in the execution of his responsibilities.
Where necessary drive the companies vehicle to attend other outstations or to attend failed units.

Electrical based NVQ Level 3 in rolling stock or aircraft or equivalent.
Practical experience and a sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering aspects of modern Electric Multiple Units.
IT skills – competent user of Personal Computer, including office packages, e-mail and intranet.
Flexibility and Adaptability. Enjoys variety in work practices, opinions and approaches
Self-Motivation. Carries out, using own initiative, activities that add value to the job.
