Based within our overhaul programs, this is your opportunity to join an ambitious team at the forefront of innovation in rail. We’re looking for a Material Planner to take charge of the end-to-end flow of materials, ensuring that everything needed for production is in the right place, at the right time, and in the right condition.
We’ll look to you to:
- Be an effective member of the Team to professionally manage all material requirements through the SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing) system.
- Interface with the Fleet Control Team, understanding requirements and reacting to fulfil them.
- Identify and drive replenishment processes in line with historical and future material demand.
- Review MRP (Material Requirements Planning) output.
- Validate demand and create requisitions (including transfers) to meet demand.
- Measure and report on planned orders and requisitions held in need of additional sourcing data.
- Maintain MRP parameters (order point and order policy) to ensure adequate supply of materials based on lead time and cost.
- Create depot-specific Material Masters for new items.
- Identify obsolete materials and liaise with Stores Management for their disposal through finance procedures, updating Material Master records with changes.
- Support the business through the provision of additional data in the form of reports and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) as specified by the Supply Chain.
- Ensure compliance with procedures and processes.
- Maintain all Material Master records.
- Provide full Supply Chain support for any identified project activities/requirements.
- Act as an ambassador for Us and the Supply Chain function both internally and externally.
- Liaise with Fleet Control Teams at assigned depots and plants.
- Manage material shortages.
- Coordinate transport requirements to support material availability.
- Expedite critical/escalated materials.

Essential:
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Good standard of education at GCSE level in English and Maths or equivalent.
- Ability to make decisions and act with a sense of urgency.
- Team spirit and strong communication skills.
- Sound understanding of costing, planning, and risk management practices.
- Resilience.
Desirable:
- Good knowledge of products and systems included within the work package and their interfaces.
