Job Description:

As our Operations Division continues to grow, we are looking for a dynamic Manufacturing Engineer ready to make an impact during this exciting phase of expansion.

The role is a full time, permanent position, working 40 hours per week, Monday – Thursday, 8.00am – 5.00pm, Friday 8.00am – 2.30pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating methods of manufacture for new products.
  • Optimising existing methods of manufacture to improve quality and reduce lead-time.
  • Assessing new capabilities and technologies to create a strategic capability acquisition plan.
  • Resolving non-conformances and ensuring the root causes of problems are eliminated.
  • Using pro-active quality management tools to optimise production including PFMEAs, SPC, MSA etc.
  • Work with the Technicians to understand the constraints of the work and ways to improve the processes.
  • Create training packs to define the best ways of working.

Skills/Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering degree.
  • 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in translating complex technical information into clear, actionable instructions for a range of audiences.
  • Ability to prioritise work load based on demand.
  • Ability to analyse performance data, identify trends, and produce clear, concise reports.

Desirable:

  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Green belt or higher
  • Experience of structured problem solving (8D)
  • Experience within the rail industry.
