Key accountabilities will include:

Be an effective leader of the Stores team, responsible for all people management matters relating to performance management, assisting with personal development, and engagement initiatives
Lead from the front on what good looks like to promotes a customer centric approach to ways of working
Identify areas for improvement within inventory management processes and implement solutions to enhance efficiency
Lead on all associated stock accountability, overseeing the storage, organisation, and any distribution of parts and materials
Coordinate with the supply chain team and suppliers, to ensure procurement of parts and materials as needed to aid timely delivery
Reconcile and manage all inventory of stock, ensuring appropriate record management processes are in place for ongoing monitoring, maintenance, replenishment, and distribution
Work closely with the Stock & Supply Chain Manager, Finance and Commercial teams to ensure a smooth process to manage third party and supplier contract and any discrepancies are identified and actioned
Assist with the ongoing review of all current standard operating procedures for the stores department to help implement areas of improvement including repairable and obsolete items management
Assist with the management of third-party contracts and supplier relationships (including Unipart Rail), for ongoing reviews of existing service agreements, and performance monitoring
Develop and review risk assessments and safety standards for the department
Build and maintain effective cross organisational working relationships to facilitate delivery of activities.

 

What you’ll bring:

Experience of managing a team in a logistics or store’s environment
Knowledge of the rail industry and related supply chains (desirable)
Experience of managing contract compliance and assessing/minimising business risk (desirable)
Experience of operating within an engineering and transport industry (desirable)
An understanding / experience of a material supply chain environment
Experience in business / continuous improvement processes which will have a positive impact on the operational and commercial aspects of the business
Experience of working alongside an engineering department, with the ability to read basic engineering drawings (desirable)
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong leadership skills to support your team and drive engagement and motivation
Develop and build collaborative working relationships with peers and team members, focused on achieving business goals
