Are you ready to take your leadership skills to the next level and be part of a world-class engineering team? We have an exciting opportunity to join us at our Temple Mills International (TMI) Depot as a Maintenance & Availability Team Leader.
This is a permanent position based at our state-of-the-art Engineering Centre in London, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring our iconic fleet stays on track.
As a Maintenance & Availability Team Leader, you’ll lead a team of Maintainer Engineers and take charge of delivering essential maintenance activities to ensure our services run smoothly, safely, and on time. You’ll oversee daily operations, ensure safety compliance, and support team development—all while helping to drive continuous improvement across the depot.
This is a permanent role based at our TMI Engineering Centre.

- Lead and support a team of engineers to deliver scheduled maintenance in line with industry and company standards.
- Ensure safety, quality, and performance targets are consistently met.
- Collaborate with other departments to maintain a seamless, efficient operation.
- Monitor workloads and plan resources effectively to meet operational goals.
- Support the personal development and training of your team, with a strong focus on succession planning.
- Promote best practices including 5S and Lean maintenance philosophies.
- Take responsibility for safety compliance, competence assurance, and quality control.
- Drive team engagement and create a collaborative, solutions-focused working environment.
Requirements
You’ll need to have…
Essential
-
- Proven experience managing a medium-sized technical or engineering team.
- Background in engineering maintenance, within the rail industry.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
- A proactive, improvement-focused mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across departments.
Desirable
-
- Experience working with our processes or within a rail maintenance environment.
- Strong interpersonal and IT skills.
- Understanding of HR processes including recruitment and performance management.
