About the role:

We’re looking for a Traction & Substations Approved Electrician to join our Rail Team in London. This role will support the delivery of power supply upgrades for the new generation of Piccadilly Line trains as part of our multi-year framework with London Underground.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out electrical installation work efficiently and to high standards.

Ensure compliance with:National Working Rules for the Electrical Contracting Industry
IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
Construction Industry Safety Regulations
Work across multiple sites in London to support project delivery.

 

Requirements:

Approved Electrician status with relevant traction and substations experience.
Strong knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations and industry safety standards.
Ability to work on London Underground power supply projects.
A proactive and safety-conscious approach to electrical work.

What you’ll be doing: 

Work on the delivery of electrical activities to ensure they are delivered safely, on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements.
Understand all technical queries or requests for Information for timely issue and response.
Implement change as required.
Maintain a robust document control of all technical documentation and information.
Anticipate, manage, and resolve technical issues within the design cable routes. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised.
Progress chasing to ensure critical events occur on the scheduled date.
Keep up to date with specification and technical legislative changes.
Ensure that non-conformances are recorded. Support the Quality Team with the investigation of any reported non-conformances.
Deliver toolbox talks and updates to company policies and procedures to the installation Team.
Ensure that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual.
Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm.

 

Who we’re looking for:

Successfully completed a registered apprenticeship in the relevant field or an equivalent training program, with hands-on experience in electrical installation work.

Achieved a Level 3 NVQ in one of the following areas, including all knowledge and performance assessments, along with the AM2 industry assessment of occupational competence:

Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Installation – Buildings & Structures)

Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures, and the Environment)

Electrotechnical Qualification (Installation) Apprenticeship Standard (or an approved equivalent)

 

Approved Electrician Requirements:

For those applying for the Approved Electrician position, additional qualifications are required:

Must have fully met the requirements for an Electrician as an Installation or Maintenance Electrician.

Have at least two years of experience as an Installation or Maintenance Electrician after completing training and immediately prior to applying.
