Station Cleaner

Your main responsibilities will be:
General cleaning of the station environment according to local requirements.
Carry out station presentation duties in line with SQE requirements.
Removal of graffiti where necessary.
Replace maps, posters, and labels as needed.
Undertake cleaning of biological hazards.
Clean and restock the public and staff WC.
Work effectively as part of a team.
Apply winter precautions.
Keep customers updated about their journeys by making announcements and through face-to-face interactions.
Work with train staff and other colleagues to ensure trains leave the station safely and on time.
Safely dispatch trains from the platform, ensuring all customers are clear of the train and observing the correct signal is showing.
Additional tasks as specified by Local Manager.
You’ll need to:
Comply with safety, security systems and responsibilities at all times.
Comply with the Rules as defined in Network Rail Group Standard, South Western Railways Employee Handbook, other Regulations and Instructions, Group Standards and Legislation. Undertaking bi-annual re-examination of competency if applicable to the post.
Develop a pro-active approach to safety and quality issues.
Ensure your personal safety and that of others at all times.
Carry out emergency procedures when required.
Report any irregularities, faults, or unusual occurrences in the prescribed manner, maintaining a written record.
Wear uniform and safety clothing, including name badge.
Participate in all staff briefings to ensure you are informed of all relevant information.
Examine all notices, publications, and instructions.
Principle accountabilities may differ from Station to Station, and you will be required to sign a formal job description.
As a minimum, you will need to have:
Good communication skills
Normal colour perception
Competent in the ability to use technology.
Applicants who require a visa must have at least 6 months remaining at the time of their appointment.
Working pattern:
You will work an average of 37 hours per week across 5 days out of 7. Working through a roster pattern Sunday to Saturday, including bank holidays, shift times being 0800 to 1524 and 1515 to 2239.
