At our Components facility in Goole, this role would be supporting the teams responsible for overhauling a range of different components such as gearboxes, motors, fans, and HVAC systems, all of which are used and supplied back into the Rail industry. As an Improvement Project Assistant Intern, you would work closely with the engineers on site to work on designs, analysis, data collection and implementation of process improvement that leads to a meaningful contribution to the department’s efficiency and innovation. Ensuring products and solutions are assembled efficiently, safely, at the right cost and to the right level of quality in order to meet customer order requirements & industry standards alike.

Our components facility is a part of the new rail village and is an ever-growing part of the business where we strive to take on new projects expanding our team and our knowledge to be able to deliver a more innovative service to our customers.

  • Develop a strong understanding of current production processes.
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and champion innovative ideas.
  • Promote knowledge sharing to support and enhance improvement efforts.
  • Play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and on time by collaborating closely with stakeholders.
  • Foster collaboration between service delivery and production teams.
  • Lead the implementation of improvement concepts, including monitoring and reporting on cost savings.

Essential Skills and Attributes

We are seeking innovative and inquisitive candidates that demonstrate the following;

 

  • Achieved or be on track to achieve a 2:2 or above in a Mechanical engineering or other suitable degree with continuous improvement understanding / experience.
  • Logical thinking, willing to self-learn and research, and take a creative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work independently, safely and responsibly; take ownership of challenges and ideas and are looking to develop your ability to drive and lead change
  • Enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions
