Brief Description

We are passionate about developing our people. This 12-month Fixed Term Contract / Secondment is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their HR journey to gain hands-on experience and broaden their skills in a large, dynamic organisation.

You’ll be part of our Southern Region HR team, providing proactive, professional support to the Southeastern Railway (SER) business area. Working alongside experienced HR Business Partners, you’ll learn how HR adds real value — from shaping people plans to supporting change and talent initiatives.


About the role (External)


What you’ll be doing

No two days are the same. You’ll get involved in a wide range of HR activity, including:

Supporting HR Business Partners with talent management, workforce planning, and performance reviews.

Helping to deliver organisational change projects from design to implementation.

Providing project support, tracking progress, and communicating key updates.

Carrying out research, analysis, and reporting to support HR initiatives.

Identifying opportunities to improve processes and the way we work.

Keeping your HR knowledge up to date and applying it in real-world situations.

Supporting with HR administration and coordination tasks that keep everything running smoothly.

You’ll be surrounded by experienced HR professionals who’ll guide and support you, giving you exposure to the full range of business HR activity.

Essential skills and experience:

Experience of supporting the delivery of HR initiatives and projects

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Ability to work with accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.

Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a busy environment.

A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn.

Confident using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Desirable:

 

Working towards or already hold a CIPD qualification.

Salary: Band 5 Salary circa £29,000 – £33,500 plus Inner London Allowance £3,270

Please note: This is a 12-month fixed term contract opportunity with the potential of being extended or made permanent.
