ETCS Compliance Engineer

Derby – Remote

£400-£500 a day

We are seeking a highly capable and motivated ETCS On-Board Compliance Engineer to join a dedicated team delivering a major UK-based retrofit project for a train control system. This is an exciting opportunity to lead compliance activities on a high-profile First-in-Class programme, ensuring technical standards and safety regulations are met throughout the design and delivery lifecycle.

 

Key Skills & Requirements:

– Proven experience as a ETCS Compliance Engineer
– Experience with train-borne systems, especially in-cab signalling (ETCS / CBTC).
– Strong background working with approval and assurance bodies (AsBo, NoBo, DeBo).
– Understanding of safety assurance and certification practices.
– Familiarity with industry quality and safety standards.
– Specific knowledge of railway systems and technologies.
– Experience with APIS and ABIU approval processes.
– Background in large subcontracting environments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

– Gather and verify evidence of compliance against the project’s Technical Baseline (standards, laws, and regulations).
– Review and challenge compliance evidence from internal teams and external suppliers.
– Produce detailed compliance reports for both unfitted and retrofitted vehicles.
– Support approval processes and the achievement of APIS for each train class.
– Collaborate with Approval Managers, Validation teams, and independent assessment bodies (AsBo, NoBo, DeBo).
