Customer Planning and Interface Manager

Our people are our strength and to be strong we insist on the best people, with this in mind there is an exciting opportunity for a Customer Planning and Interface Manager to work on projects and work streams which are of benefit to customers across the industry. This will primarily focus on the delivery of customer handling plans during planned disruption, and in ensuring that customer requirements are met through the infrastructure design work, most notably at stations, and with new train deployment.

The successful candidate will be expected to interface with front-line grades, representatives from all directorates within the business and its key contractors. There will also be extensive collaboration and leadership with regards to other operators’ personnel (most notably Northern, Avanti, Cross Country and LNER), the alternative transport supply chain, Rail North Partnership, local combined authorities, Transport Focus and, any other bodies with an interest in the successful delivery to the customer.

The successful candidate will ideally need the following:

• good understanding of railway infrastructure (especially around station design), its operations and customer services;
• knowledge of the railway supplier interface/relationship management;
• examples of leading cross-functional forums;
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• experience of detail workstream reporting and risk management;
• tact, diplomacy, and tenacity.
