About the job

Job summary

Our consumer team focuses on monitoring the rail passenger experience in the areas for which we have regulatory responsibility. We recognise success and good practice so that it can be shared more widely, and take prompt & effective action when required.

Job description

You will be working to create a better experience for rail passengers, supporting policy and compliance projects across the breadth of Our consumer team’s work. We focus on accessibility, passenger information, ticket retailing, complaints and redress. You will use evidence to understand the passenger experience, put forward ideas for how we can use its influence and powers to have the greatest positive impact, and contribute to our industry interventions. You will need to work highly collaboratively with colleagues from across the consumer team and build relationships with external stakeholders.

A new passenger watchdog has been proposed by the Department for Transport, which could take on some of the functions of our consumer team. Where functions transfer, roles may transfer to the new body.
