Our clients include Network Rail, Train Operating Companies, Freight Operating Companies, Heritage Railways and Light Rail.
About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Construction Manager with minor building projects experience to join a team delivering high volume multi-site minor building and civils projects throughout the Scottish rail network from tender stage to completion. Experience of working within the rail industry would be desirable though not essential as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver project works from tender/scope through to completion within budget and programme.
- Review and approve project health, safety and environmental arrangements.
- Manage compliance to customer and Network Rail standards, specifically standards relating to the preparation and approval of Construction Phase Plans, Works Package Plans, Task Briefs and Temporary Works Design.
- Regularly monitor effectiveness of project delivery and take action to mitigate programme, commercial, health, safety, environmental and reputational risk.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Company’s Quality and Environmental Management Systems, other company processes and specific customer specifications and standards.
- Monitor site works and maintain a regular and frequent site presence at all worksites.
- Manage the use of subcontract resource in order that subcontract works are delivered safely, on time and within budget such that the company’s reputation is maintained.
- Manage the utilisation of internal resource to maximise productivity.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with clients and stakeholders.
What we are looking for
- Relevant experience in a related discipline, preferably educated to HNC/HND level in such discipline although knowledge and experience is equally important in the right candidate.
- Knowledge of safety, quality, environmental and commercial aspects.
- Relevant construction experience, preferably within the rail industry although not essential.
- Good communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Capable of taking ownership of tasks and work on own initiative.
- Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/night shift working when required.
