We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Business Development Placement student based in Birmingham

 

Salary: £24,293.00 per annum (pro rota Subject to review)

Location: 20, The Colmore Building, Colmore Circus, Queensway, Birmingham, B4 6AT

Working hours per week: Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00. 37.5hrs/week

Start date: September 2026

Here in the Rail Sector Business Development teams, you will get experience across a wide-ranging group of topics. Variety is the spice of life, and no two days will be the same, almost. The team will be simultaneously working across market intelligence, customer and stakeholder management and internal capability to build a pipeline that serves us and our customers.

We celebrate ours and our industry’s successes at events to build capability and knowledge and continuously strive to improve.

 

You will be required to support and potentially lead the development and rollout of internal and external communications strategies. We have multiple projects running at the same time and prioritisation and versatility will be important skills to build.

 

What you will do:

 

To support the Business Development team in the implementation of strategic plans and initiatives that drive business growth in our Rail Sector Business.

 

  • Market Research: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify new business opportunities and trends.

  • Business Development Support: Assist in the creation of sales presentations and proposals. Support the sales team in client meetings and follow-ups.

  • Data Analysis: Analyse customer data and sales metrics to assess business performance and suggest improvements.

  • Networking: Be an ambassador for us, attend industry events and networking meetings to establish contacts and represent the company.

  • Project Management: Assist in managing and coordinating projects from conception to completion.

  • Reporting: Prepare reports on business development activities.

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and succeed.

  • Ability to work as a Team player

  • Good Communication skills

  • Passion for developing your skills both professional and personally.

  • Have the enthusiasm to be part of a high performing team and a drive for success.
