Your Future Role:

Take on a new challenge and apply your testing expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to the Fleet Control Manager, and work alongside other members of the Services Central Engineering team.

 

We’ll look to you for:

Collating and analysing train data to ensure defects are identified with in a timely manner.
Supporting the business and the customer in regard to engineering and operational issues associated with
day-to-day fleet performance.
Providing technical expertise and support in delivery of Alstom’s contractual obligations.
In the event of a service incident, provide technical advice to drivers and traincrew to minimise delay minutes in a safe and efficient manner.
Coordinate and provide operational support for any service incidents.
Manage service affecting failures through effective communication (Driver, Customer, Network Rail, Traincare Points (TcPs) and Traincare Centres (TcCs),etc.), in order to minimise any delays.
Manage customer affecting failures through effective communication (Traincrew, TcPs and TcCs etc.), in order to minimise any potential impact.
Record events and categorise accordingly in the relevant business tools.
Analyse data from system downloads to determine the appropriate corrective actions following an event.
Communicate with the AOC and Operations (at depot level outside of core hours) to ensure defects are cleared at the earliest opportunity whilst having due consideration for the maintenance and reliability plan.
Review the fleet defect position to minimise the risk of service failures.
Provide technical and operational advice to depots in relation to service delivery.
Authorise concessions subject to operational restrictions defined by the Customer.
Maintain a good knowledge and understanding of all train systems, the running railway, including the ‘Rule Book’ and B6.
Using all the available business tools, collate and analyse data from system downloads to identify any failure trends and anomalies and communicate accordingly providing the appropriate corrective actions if required.
Identify errors, omissions, and potential improvements in the business tools (and the data contained therein) to the appropriate party for continuous improvement.
Identify failure modes that are Infrastructure based and inform NR/Fleet Control and review their progress on the repairs.

Practical experience and a sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering aspects of modern rolling stock.
Technical experience in mechanical and electrical engineering.
Good knowledge and understanding of the UK running railway, including the ‘Rule Book’ and B6
Good verbal and written communication skills
IT skills – competent user, including business tools relevant to the role, Rail_Sys, MS office packages, e-mail and intranet.
