Auto Electrician – Rail Engineering 

Enjoy a 3-day weekend!
You’ll work a compressed 4-day week: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am – 5:00pm (40 hours total, including a paid 1-hour daily break).

Now, we’re looking for an Auto Electrician to help us power the next generation of rail technology.

About the Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll play a hands-on role in the assembly, testing, and repair of the electrical systems in our specialist railway maintenance machines.

You’ll work with schematics and wiring diagrams to build and maintain complex systems from custom cable looms to control boxes in a modern, lean manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from circuit diagrams, wiring schematics, and engineering drawings
  • Build electrical enclosures, cable looms, and control panels for specialist rail machines
  • Conduct electrical system diagnostics and maintenance
  • Work closely with workshop and design engineers on new builds and fault rectification
  • Track and manage component orders related to your work scope
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient electrical workshop area
  • Support cost/time estimation for new work
  • Complete all paperwork and inspection logs accurately and on time
  • Attend internal planning meetings and respond to design queries
  • Contribute to Lean manufacturing practices on the shop floor

What You’ll Need

  • Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition, or equivalent)
  • Experience working on automotive, plant, or railway equipment
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety, inspection, and testing
  • Ability to read and work from technical diagrams and schematics
  • Good communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Team-focused attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement
