Brief Description

We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Engineer to join our Buildings Asset Management Kent Route Team as an Asset Engineer [Building Fabric] — a key role in maintaining and renewing the region’s stations, depots, and lineside buildings. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our building fabric assets are safe, sustainable, and fit for the future.
About the role (External)
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the team, you’ll:
- Manage the maintenance, inspection and renewal of building fabric assets across the Kent Route.
- Provide engineering expertise and guidance on all building fabric matters.
- Develop and manage prioritized maintenance and renewal plans, ensuring alignment with technical strategy and budget.
- Act as sponsor for complex and specialist maintenance and renewal schemes, ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard.
- Lead on asbestos survey management, reporting, and action tracking.
- Monitor asset condition trends, identify risks, and recommend proactive interventions.
- Collaborate with Train Operators, tenants and other stakeholders to maintain compliance and support operational excellence.
- Support investigations into incidents and ensure lessons are learned and shared.

Who We’re Looking For
You’ll bring a blend of technical skill, practical experience and collaborative spirit.
Essential:
- HND/HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
- Significant experience in operational property engineering
- Knowledge of policies and standards relating to operational property
- Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution
Desirable:
- Member of a relevant professional body
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status
