We are seeking an experienced HSQE Advisor to join our rail team. The HSQE Advisor will support the implementation and continuous improvement of health, safety, quality, and environmental practices across all rail operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring the safety of our employees, contractors, and the wider community, while upholding the highest standards of quality and environmental responsibility.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Safety Management:

Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety policies and procedures.
Conduct safety audits, site inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and support corrective action planning.
Support incident investigations and reporting, including root cause analysis and the implementation of preventative measures.
Promote a proactive safety culture through training, briefings, and engagement with employees and contractors.

 

2. Quality Assurance:

Support the implementation of quality control procedures aligned with customer requirements and regulatory standards.
Monitor quality metrics, identify trends, and contribute to improvement initiatives.
Participate in quality audits and assist with the preparation of audit documentation.
Ensure compliance with ISO standards and company quality objectives.

 

3. Environmental Compliance:

Contribute to the development and monitoring of environmental management plans.
Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and assist in maintaining permits and documentation.
Monitor site activities for environmental impact, including waste management and emissions tracking.
Promote sustainable practices and raise awareness across teams.

 

4. Regulatory Compliance:

Stay up to date with relevant rail and HSQE legislation, guidance, and best practices.
Support the company in meeting all legal obligations and client-specific requirements.
Assist with the management of required licenses, permits, and regulatory documentation.

 

5. Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of incidents, audits, inspections, and training.
Prepare regular reports for management and regulatory bodies.
Support the maintenance and development of the HSQE documentation system.

 

6. Training and Education:

Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and refresher training on HSQE topics.
Promote awareness and understanding of HSQE responsibilities and procedures at all levels.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related discipline.
Relevant HSQE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 14001 or 9001 Auditor).
Experience in a HSQE advisory or coordination role, ideally within the rail or infrastructure sector.
Strong understanding of rail safety regulations and environmental standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Confident in influencing and engaging people across all levels.
Analytical, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.

 

Additional Information:

This role will require regular travel to operational sites.
The successful candidate will collaborate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to foster a positive HSQE culture across the organization.
