Brief Description:
As Asset Engineer, the successful candidate will support the Senior Asset Engineer to manage Wales and Western Route earthworks asset portfolio. The role will entail the examination, assessment and monitoring of earthworks to deliver compliance against company standards.

Your Main Responsibilities will be to:
Lead the requirements for examination and undertake evaluation, assessment and risk management of geotechnical assets. Manage compliance of examination and evaluation of geotechnical assets against requirements of standards.
Provide engineering input to the standards and specifications for earthworks examinations and assessments.
Maintain comprehensive and accurate asset records.
Direct the implementation of monitoring systems and undertake the review of monitoring results and other control measures.
Support the development of route specific plans including all maintenance and renewal activities and asset strategies, providing the prioritised investment work bank, Support the inclusion of all investment items into appropriate programmes and track through to completion including approval of programme changes.
Provide support to the production and prioritisation of the route business plan. Support the Senior Asset Engineer (Geotechnics) in producing remits for investment schemes.
Monitor trends arising from examinations and evaluations, assessments, asset capability and failure precursors and confirm that action is specified and taken and participate in investigations of incidents.
Liaise with community relations to support the resolution of geotechnical and drainage issues impacting on neighbours and third parties.
Provide engineering input to the specification and management of geotechnical and drainage examination contracts. Investigate and resolve technical and quality issues with suppliers.
You will ideally have:
An Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
Membership of relevant professional institution (institute of Civil Engineers and / or The Geological Society of London) and actively working towards Chartership.
Experience of railway civil engineering, with knowledge of geotechnical and drainage asset maintenance, refurbishment and renewals.
A sound knowledge of geotechnical and drainage engineering policies and standards.
An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques.
Excellent team work skills.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability and willingness to travel across Wales and Western Route.
Personal Track Safety (PTS) competence.
Full UK driving licence.

Evidence of further post-graduate study (and qualifications where appropriate).
Associate Member or Member of the Institute of Asset Management.
Chartered Engineer / Chartered Geologist status.
Broad cross-discipline Railway knowledge.
Experience in Construction Design and Management (2015) Regulations.

Salary: £43,588 to £50,018 per annum.
